For most internet marketing gurus, the use of internet marketing and social networking sites has been their secret weapons. If you are a business owner, you would quite agree with me that, it is always necessary to enhance your business. You can achieve this by using some major and very popular social networking platform. While most people resort to the internet, in a bid to get the information they seek; millions have joined social networks; and are still doing so. It is therefore beyond reasonable doubt, that the majority of people will become members of social networks at one point in time; for the purpose of processing information. Can you use social networking as a tool to improve the success of your internet marketing?

Internet marketing and social networking sites has really help most successful marketers. Like I said earlier, most marketers are following this new trend. Social marketing is now employed by virtually every marketer who wishes expand his/her business and profit too. Having a good brand (name) is very important. You would want to your customers to know not only what they are buying. And it is only important they know who they are buying from too.

I have compiled 4 essential tips to help you succeed at internet marketing; using the method of social networking.

Communications: This is a very important key to success to what ever internet marketing strategy you opt to use. Your real-time customers can only get to know better when there is an open flow of communication between both parties. The same goes for potential customers. Be bold and step out into the open. Do your best to join more popular networks; start contacting people who would be interested in your business. This signifies business mutualism: They help your business grow; and return the favor.

Quality Content: content is very necessary in internet marketing. Always make sure that whatever you are selling contains quality content that will be savored by your clients. Thanks to new technological innovations and development; you can now attract people to your business with such magnetic force. Unsurprisingly, you can achieve this goal with just a little effort. Yes, while I do not encourage laziness, you want to couple your efforts with smartness and intelligence.

Help People: You also want to be the Good Samaritan of old if you are to succeed internet marketing. What do I mean by this? If you are really making money online; or you have an offline business that does as much good, passing on the information to people wont do any harm. So when you help them, they get to trust you. It increases your online credibility and customers would be willing to work with you. They also see you as a nice person and will not hesitate to believe whatever information you pass unto them.

Spread The Right Links: This is where most people go wrong in internet marketing. Dont even think of distributing the links to your social network. This is jet-age; and most people are already members of one social network or another. Talking about links, I mean, you must always include the links to your blog or website on your profile. Do not impose it upon them to click on your links. They will clearly see it in your profile and the decision to click on the links is solely theirs.

There are thousands of forums on the internet. Join all that you can,your forum signature will play an important roll in these forums. Use boardtracker to help monitor the responses you’ve had so you can stay active in each one. Use the forums email feature to receive notification of responses in your original introduction thread. Think about your “target audience”, who are they are what topics are they interested in.

Email Signatures

If you are like me, you probably send numerous emails out daily. Make sure you are using them effectively. Now that you have your signature in your email, you can find ways to become more social. Browsing a site you like, email the owner and tell them or ask them a question. Use your email at every opportunity for more exposure.

Yahoo Groups

Sign up for as many as you can keep up with. Set up a special email account at gmail for this. You want the ones that will allow you to have a small signature file. There are also other “groups” out there like MSN, MySpace, etc..

Guest Books

Set up a guest book on your site. Do a google search for “sign guest book” and/or other variations of that. Visit sites and make a positive comment about their site, leaving a link to your site and ask others to sign your guest book. A little htaccess can force everyone to have to reach your guest book through your main page which means that if someone else does what you are doing, they will be redirected to your main page and have to actually click a link from there to reach it. More about that later.

5. Blog Comments

The first thing we do is a google search for “blog software”. We can find several like wordpress. We can then do a search for “powered by wordpress” and get a nice list of sites. Start visiting and leaving comments with a link back to your site. Most use the nofollow tag so don’t expect for these links to be indexed by the search engines, what we are doing here is looking for actual blog readers to see your comment and click through to your site. To narrow down the field so we’re using our time more efficiently we could refine our search to something like “home business blog” or even “making money” + “powered by wordpress”. This doesn’t even have to be “making money” or “home biz” related, again think about what your “target audience” may be reading. Note: I’m not endorsing blog spamming! Actually visiting blogs, reading the posts and making relevant comments benefit both parties. The blog owner gets free content for his site and you get a link back to your site.

Outgoing Snail Mail

Chance are, unless you’ve completely moved into the new millennium and are paying everything online that you still write out the occasional check. Stamp or write your url in the memo section of all checks, on the remit portion of your bill and the outside of your envelopes. These instruments pass through many hands and every exposure of your url is one more you didn’t have before. I would recommend using a rubber stamp, if you are doing enough, it will be worth it and will save you from hand cramps.

Dropping Business Cards

It is your business that is online but it is you that is in business. You are not restricted to only online advertising. Do you go out to eat? Leave your business card on the table with your tip. Fast food place? Doesn’t matter, leave your card on a few tables for the next few patrons. Many restraints even have a board where they allow cards to be pinned. Browsing the “making money” section of your local bookstore? Business cards make excellent bookmarks! Have a t-shirt printed with “Make Money Online” and your url on the front and back. Wear this every time you leave the house. You will be a walking business card and can be a conversation starter. Being bashful won’t make you any money.

Hanging Flyers

I like to use flyers with the “pull off tabs” at the bottom which you just cut yourself so people don’t walk off with your whole flyer. Think of any public place that has a bulletin board. Laundry rooms, public and apartments, community college, employment office, etc.. Always carry these and the business cards with you, you never know when the opportunity will present itself.

Add Content To Your Site

The search engines love content and every page you create adds another doorway into your site. Try to write at least one or two pages of content daily. These can be just a few paragraphs long and can be about anything you like, pets, children, the working at home experience, etc.. Two of these page a day is about 60 pages a month and 120 pages a year. Make sure you use a template for this with your sites navigation and google adwords framing it on the top, left column and underneath. Search for high paying keywords and write around those subjects if possible to maximize your adsense revenue.

Everyone you know is probably trying some new work-at-home idea or business. Fads in this area are legend. Before you jump into the currently hot program or product you definitely want to have a plan. Otherwise you’ll be thrown from the ride before you’ve reached your destination.

Let’s look at the short list of what to do before you grab for the ring.

1. Do some research to find out about your timing. What this means is, are you at the starting point of the rollout for this product or service or have you jumped on in the middle? Unfortunately, many jump on for a ride when the product or service has run out of steam, most often due to saturation of ads in the marketplace. Sound familiar?

2. Find yourself a good resource for early release and product introduction sites and newsletters or newsgroups where such discussions are the topic. You want to be in on the startup period.

3. Plan your strategy for maximum exposure of your product or service. Think out of the box when it comes to marketing. For example, is this a product that would be more attractive young people, seniors, women, men, a particular ethnic group? If so, Google the segment of the market you’re targeting and find a way to reach them directly.

4. Write an article and submit it to an article site for exposure. Your message should look and read like a review. By writing about your produce with a news slant you can create more interest and generate more sales.

When it’s said and done, there is a never ending stream of business opportunities entering the market place on a daily basis. Your challenge is to find something with potential.

This is no easy task, however, if you get a stirring in the pit of your stomach when you see a product for the first time you may have found yourself a winner.

Stretch yourself and go for it, but start with a written plan of action. I’ve had a few winners from left field that no one would have thought would make a dime.

It’s all about the presentation and your timing. Do your research and watch your timing. Even a fantastic product at a perfect price won’t make you any money if you jump into the market after the product has started cooling off.

What some new internet marketers fail to realize is that targeted traffic is the key to success. What I mean by targeted traffic does not necessarily come under the normal expectations of normal visitors viewing you website or landing page. Targeted traffic is defined by real human visitors that already have an interest in the niche you are promoting. That is what targeted traffic really is about. That is where the key of success lies.

It holds the very same application to the real world and advertising schemes for example, a real estate agent sends out advertising brochures to several houses, from these brochures, certain individuals who are interested in purchasing property will then respond to these brochures. Those individuals who already have an interest in your niche would be considered as ‘targeted’ individuals thus establishing the importance of targeted traffic.

There have been several changes to this new world of internet marketing whereby individuals are exposed to new systems in order to increase ones website’s page ranking. The only issue in this comes in the fact that bots, scripts and software are developed in order to automatically generate traffic to a particular website. You have to be very careful when thinking about buying from anyone who is promising guaranteed visitors. The reason behind that is due to the ability to switch proxy servers and IP addresses, fake traffic can be generated easily hence you will be paying for fake traffic and not targeted visitors. This is a scam many new internet marketers fall into, so be aware and do not be one of the victims.

There are several methods for which you can drive targeted traffic to your website. Of course, advertising skills and techniques are required for absolute effectiveness . The initial forms of driving traffic may be through buying advertising spots on Google through their advertising campaigns called “Adwords”. This is done through the targeting of keywords to promote your website. Other search engines offer this form of advertising campaigns as well however it all comes down to how much you are willing to pay for the keywords.

Another form of increasing targeted traffic is by working on your website’s Search Engine Optimization. The better the website’s SEO, the higher the page rank it will be for particular keywords for example if your website sells video games and it is focused on the keyword ‘gaming’, whoever types the keyword ‘gaming’ into the web browser will find your website’s rank high in the search results. These forms of advertising marketing skills have proven to be one of the best methods to generate quality targeted traffic as your website will be opened to individuals who already hold an interest in your niche. There are other methods to generate traffic such as subscribing to Paid Per Click Campaigns, whereby you are opened to a huge network of people willing to view advertisements for some payment in return. PPC Campaigns could be beneficial to you however the probability of a good conversion rate may be low as the audience you are advertising to intend to make money and not spend it hence being assigned to viewing advertisements for money in return.

There are dozens of other ways to generate traffic online… from article marketing, traffic exchanges, safelists or viral list builders, social networking, and much more, but the lesson to learn here is that your message must match the desires of that market in order for it to be targeted traffic. If it’s not targeted you will not get the results you desire.
