If you have decided that PPC marketing looks interesting to you, then this article will be of help to you. I’m going to be talking about using PPC marketing for website promotion so if this is what your looking for, your in luck.

Your first job is define who your target market actually are. Whether you are targeting men or women can make a large difference to your advertising approach, and also many PPC marketing services offer targeting by gender location and even age. By targeting the correct group of people, you maximise your chance for a successful PPC campaign.

After targeting your add you need to decide whether you think you will do better through search engine advertising or include content based search. Search by content is the display of your ads on websites than are deemed appropriate. Some times you will even have the option of targeting individual websites to display your ads on, as is the case with Google’s Adwords. This will dependant on your PPC provider though, so varies from provider to provider.

The next thing to do is decide on whether to do image ads or plain text. Unless you have a thorough knowledge of online advertising I suggest test ads, because they are far cheaper to use, so less likely to waste money while your learning .

Make sure the domain name you are promoting is a good choice. If you are trying to promote a domain name that doesn’t match with your keywords, your quality score will drop and this will lower your advertising display position.

I always make absolutely sure my website has good content at this point, as if your promoting something that doesn’t sell itself your just wasting your time. Make sure your website promotion is selling its unique benefits instead of discussing technical aspects, as this is what will turn a viewer into a buyer.

As long as I’m sure its worth going ahead with the site as is, I go and check the competition level for different search terms. The easiest way of doing this is with Google Adwords own keyword checker, and you’ll find this under tools. The keyword tool tells you how many searches each search term has per month, whilst giving you an idea about the level of competition.

Make sure that the cost of a click through to your website promotion is worth the amount it would cost to get the click, and provided that checks out your good to go.

Next you are going to need to work out how much you money you can spend on your PPC campaign. I always think of this as the initial test money, as a successful PPC campaign will obviously have much of the profits reinvested.

This brings me to what to do if you have a successful campaign. What I do is reinvest 75% of the profit generated, as this gives me the best chance of growth, whilst still maintaining actual profit. You may have a different percentage in mind, but I do advise you to plan ahead here. Reinvesting everything, or keeping all the profits are both short sighted PPC marketing plans.

Internet marketing basics is kind of an oxymoron. While it’s good in theory that Internet marketing might be quite simple, executing effective strategies and following through with them sometimes are extremely difficult. This doesn’t necessarily only mean the novice, as it can even be tough even for those who are experienced in Internet marketing. With this in mind, we’ll attempt to explain the basic Internet marketing strategies which can help you launch your own Internet marketing campaign. You’ll see concepts on creating a website, optimizing your website for the search engines, creating email marketing campaigns, as well as e-newsletters.

Create a Web Site

Of course, you need to create a website as the first part of your Internet marketing strategy. Creating websites has gotten easier with some of the new website builders. Plus there are also a lot of software packages which make it simple for you to create a functional website with no design experience. You can also hire a web designer on one of the International outsourcing sites where you can hire affordable and reliable freelancers to create an attractive, functional and suitable website for your products or services.

If you already have a website which is poorly designed you should also consider re-designing your website to effectively market your services or products.

Search Engine Optimization

A significant aspect of your Internet marketing strategies should be on optimizing your website for the search engines. Your web site will be ranked by quality and relevance to specific search terms, by the search engines. The higher your relevance, the higher you rank in the pages. Most Internet users rely on the search engines to provide web site links most relevant to their searches. Therefore it is critical to study search engine optimization (SEO) so that your website is high ranking, which will make it more likely that you generate a great deal of traffic from Internet users who use search engines. Your goal is to fall on the first page of the search engines, to obtain the most traffic thus resulting in a higher degree of success by improving your traffic.

Opt-in Landing Page and Email Marketing

Once you have your web site up and functional, an opt-in landing page should be created to build your list of interested individuals who want more information about your field of expertise. Then you can create email marketing campaigns as another aspect of your Internet marketing strategy. Since you will be sending to those who “opted in” (clicked on your link for more information) you will be then sending out these emails to your list of potential clients and thus will avoid sending emails to people who are unsolicited and then your emails won’t be viewed as spam. You can then begin creating emails which offer relevant advice and useful information based around your product or services, to the recipients of your list.

E-newsletters

E-newsletters (also called ezines) can also be a very effective Internet marketing strategy. E-newsletters are essentially emails which contain a variety of information including informative articles, relevant information which is considered worthwhile for the recipients of the e-newsletter. These informative enewsletters can be used as effective marketing tools which are not viewed by the recipients as an advertisement. Incorporating hyperlinks or other soft sale approaches into the copy of the e-newsletters can be helpful. You need to be careful to keep these references minimal so that the e-newsletter recipients don’t feel as though they have been spammed.

Now you may have heard the saying “the money is in the list”. Today, I’m going to start off with discussing what email marketing is all about and give you a basic heads-up on the subject. In the next two lessons, I’ll also discuss email marketing strategies and the tools (including a complete walkthrough) for setting up and managing your very own email marketing campaign .

Let’s start with the barebones of email marketing, and how it so important for anyone wanting to do business online.

Online Business and Email Marketing

The first point you must remember is that email marketing is just a tool – not a new concept of doing business like Web 2.0 but a time-tested, hardened method for generating profits. In other words, email marketing is just like any other online business tool – affiliate programs, pay-per-click advertising, sales letters, minisites – one of many assets at your disposal.

What makes email marketing so interesting (and important) is its focus on building a positive relationship with your customers. From a marketing perspective, email marketing is simply an online extension of the traditional marketing principle of acquiring “prospects” by taking their contact information and then sending them promotional information via email.

Think product catalogs, magazine subscriptions (advertising within a magazine is the “promotional material”) and newspapers (classifieds) – all of these involve the same two steps:

Acquiring the prospect’s contact information (either by offering a freebie or a discount, or just by asking).

Send regular promotional offers to the “list” – a collection of prospects whose contact information you have.

This is ridiculously simple. There are many more levels and much more depth to the subject (and we will be covering all of it today and in the next two lessons), but this is the essence of it.

The issue that immediately comes out of this is:

What motivation does the prospect have, first for providing their contact details, and second, for buying any products that are pitched to her?

None at all .

Consider a social parallel – if you go up to a complete stranger and ask them to give you their name and email address (or worse, their home address as well) so that you can send them emails about what to buy, your chances of success are going to be very, very slim.

Instead, you have to give the prospect a reason to hand over her email address. More so to tell you her name. And an even better reason for the permission to send her any sort of product or service promotions.

In other words, you have to use the principles of “Permission Marketing” (a term popularized by Seth Godin) – provide the prospect with a valuable enough proposition for her to consider giving you the permission to “market” to her i.e. sell to her.

All of this leads to the first principle of email marketing:

Before anything else, give the subscriber something that she respects and values.

Creating Value .

Everyone has problems. Everyone is looking for answers to these problems.

Marketing – effective marketing – is positioning your product as THE solution to a particular problem.

Combine this with the first principle of email marketing, and you have situation where your first task is to create value for the prospect. In some cases, the “promise” and “proof” of a solution can be enough (like a sales letter). In other cases, you might want to try providing a rudimentary solution in the form of providing some information, and build that value over time by continuously giving more and more to your prospects (like an email newsletter).

Email marketing is all about providing useful information to your subscribers. First, you encourage them to give you their email addresses by promising a solution to their problems (for example, a short report on the real estate market if you are targeting investors). In turn, this translates into permission given by the subscriber to allow you to send them further information via email.

The central core of this whole process is valuable, relevant information. Information that the subscriber is interested in. Information that the subscriber needs .

Now many marketers make a hash out of providing valuable information and instead concentrate on “selling” to the list. Do NOT make that mistake. You first priority is to develop a bond of trust with your subscribers – this will only happen if you learn to give first and foremost.

Building Trust .

Once you’ve learned how to give, you’re ready to build your “list” by using any one or more of a number of lead generation techniques, all of which involve driving traffic to a special “landing page” where you make your “information pitch” (as opposed to a sales pitch) and request the prospect’s name and email address.

But building your list isn’t the only thing you must do. Almost simultaneously, from the moment you have convinced someone to hand over their email address, you are on the road of building a positive relationship with your list. A relationship that is based on trust, where trust can include the following:

Your subscribers consider you an expert in your field (and therefore someone they are inclined to believe and listen to).

Your subscribers implicitly trust you to treat them fairly – this results from a commitment to give first, and sell later. In other words, invest time and effort in your list, and make it show.

Your subscribers expect quality from you, and by extension, they consider any products or services you promote as valuable.

This trust is paramount in email marketing. If you can gain the trust of your subscribers, they will respond to your product offers (provided that you are selling something valuable and not just trash) and, eventually, make you rich. The money really is in the list.

In the third lesson of this series where I discuss advanced email marketing strategies, I’ll cover in detail how you can follow simple steps to ensure that your subscribers trust you, and also a checklist of things that can break that trust (i.e. a NOT to do checklist).

Repeat Customers .

The greatest value in email marketing is that of repeat customers. In other words, through email marketing you can basically send product promotions to your list regularly and continue making money out of the same core list of subscribers.

Of course, it’s a bit more complicated in that, but this principle of acquiring repeat customers is enlightening because it showcases an important fact about business:

You can market different products to the same group of people. If you position it right over a period of time, you will have a situation where a certain group of people are buying new products from you every few months.

Now this works, but only if you are able to identify your “target market” and are creating products and services that are the answers to the types of problems your subscribers need solutions to. Failing to do that will result in unhappy subscribers and a cold list – a list full of subscribers that are not interested in your emails, don’t want to buy what you are selling and are generally ignoring your emails.

Building a list you can contact again and again for continuing profits needs a lot of effort to build and maintain. A large part of creating repeat customers in email marketing is to maintain a long-term relationship with your list – this involves regularly providing information that is useful to your subscribers.

When following email marketing, do not forget that other rules of marketing still apply – if you don’t give your customer what they want, they won’t hang around your website (or in this case, on your list) anymore.

In this stiff competition, Internet marketers who possess the knowledge and capability on this type of investment will win the game.

The rule of the Internet marketing game is simple: learn the rules and apply necessary marketing strategies in order to win the game. Though you have several websites that are easy to navigate and contain useful features such as complete inventory listings as well as shopping cart facilities, if it is unable to generate generous amount of traffic, your Internet marketing career will be a total failure.

To avoid reaching possible career failure, it is important that you seek the help of an Internet marketing consultant. One of their business objectives is to provide their clients the necessary strategies or possibly handle the situation by themselves in terms of generating web traffic to their clients’ sites. This can be done through various ways such as affiliate marketing programs, web page optimization, web content development, or pay per click advertising. Even though as an Internet marketer, you are familiar with the aforementioned marketing concepts, you need sufficient time and expertise to apply it to your Internet marketing business. You will be able to meet complete novices as well as seasoned veterans on the Internet marketing industry. If you have come across clients who knew nothing about the business and ask you to take charge, you will have to take them under your wing. As a consultant, it is your responsibility to provide your clients their needs, whether they are complete novices or marketing gurus.

Start your consultant career on one or two areas of expertise. You may specialize on search engine optimization, newsletter writing, and other Internet marketing strategies. Identify the niche which you are strong with and make sure that you are regularly updated about any developments on those particular areas of expertise. You may also try concentrating on “hot niches” by typing your question on major search engines and see what comes after.

Being an Internet marketing consultant has the responsibility he needs to bear on serving the marketing needs of his clients. However, it takes common sense, solid knowledge, and enjoyment on what you are doing in order to help other Internet marketers in the long run. If you think you have the edge over a certain aspect, you can always go to that consultant direction. All of these are really up to you to think about.

To market through email, collect the email addresses in bulk add the subject of the business promotion that should draw the attention of the user then enter the content of the business that you are promoting and your plans of the business. I personally spent 12 months clicking around on the internet in search for that right company that provides the education and the tools to become a Master Internet Marketer. And, also provides the environment where you learn to start implementing, and start taking action on what you are learning. And, as a result, start making the difference and start achieving your goals.

And, why did I do this (click around for 12 months, that is). Because, I believe in affiliating with the-best-of-the-best and it does take time to find just the right source that will work for your needs.

SO – Let me help you save all that time and share with you 10 major tips, thought processes, on how to find that right internet educational resource that will work for your online needs and goals.

[First, let me preface, however, the following tips with one thought. I know Internet Marketing is now being served up on the college campuses. Brilliant. If I was headed off to college, I would take what I could on the subject. Even, make Internet Marketing my major. But, I chose to learn (not from books), but from the leaders in the industry, who are making it happen and producing the results. Because at the end of the day - it's results]

One more comment: As I’ve stated in other articles, knowing internet marketing is rapidly becoming the most valuable commodity you can own in today’s global economy. Learning how to leverage the internet, is becoming the most prized skill set you can capture.

Internet growth has increased 362% in just the last 9 years, and reaches over 1.6 Billion people worldwide. And, this growth is expected to continue, since we’re only at a 24.7% world penetration level.

OK. So – once you’ve decided to get out of your comfort zone and to start learning this stuff, where do you go to get the education you want? What do you look for? How do you go about it all? What should you be asking before you decide this is the place where I can really learn to become an Internet Marketer (or for some, A Master Internet Millionaire Marketer)?

10 Top Tips To Help You Find The Right Internet Marketing Education:

1) MINDSET: Everything starts here. Entrepreneurial vision. Faith. The ability to see the potential of the future before it’s here. “Can Do” attitude. A level of perseverance and tenacity against all odds and challenges. The attitude that “the buck stops here” and you take accountability for the results. Ability to accept never ending change, because we are in an Internet Evolution.

So – because of the importance of “mindset”, find that resource that not only includes brilliant marketing minds on the internet, but also provides some of the industry’s top mindset coaches. Make certain your curriculum includes subject matter on the importance of leadership and developing leaders.

As you learn internet marketing and you become more visible online, you will begin to assume the role of a leader. And, it’s understood, not everyone comes with the ready made entrepreneurial visionary mind. So – go out and learn it. One of the best ways to develop a successful mindset, is to spend time studying other successful entrepreneurs.

3) YOUR INVESTMENT: You usually invest Time, Money and/or Energy. You can start out learning right now with little (or no) money. You do not need the big bucks to spend on your education in the beginning. Stay within your budget each step throughout your education.

As you progress, you will naturally want to expand your knowledge which then may require (if you desire) a specialist where your investment in money will start to kick in. And, make certain the curriculum also provides the marketing masterminds (that I call the “specialists”) in such areas, as: Google, SEO, Copywriting, Personal Branding…

4) MISSION STATEMENT: What is your Mission Statement, and is the internet educational resource inline with your Mission Statement. This may be a difficult question to answer for some. But if you are building a business, and have a mission statement, then having that educator with like type mission/philosophy helps to drive your education along the same lines as your goals.

Let me give you an example, if I may:

My Mission Statement: To help others throughout the world realize you do have options, and to help you understand those options that are available to you (over & beyond the corporate arena), and to guide you to where you can create & develop your own Financial Security – Online.

I then took my mission statement, which is based on Financial Security, and found the internet educational resource, that is ALSO based around: 1) Financial Security and 2) Education for the next wave of Master Internet Millionaire Marketers.

The reason for this approach is because it helps you to be in-line philosophically with who you are working with, learning from and growing your future with.

5) ETHICS/INTEGRITY: This may be tough to determine. Try to get a sense of the company’s business model and business ethics. Find the company’s mission statement and is it inline with your mission, or how you may want to approach your marketing education. And is the company’s branding and message consistent and uphold ethics.

So – is the marketing and branding of the company you are considering for your education, inline with how you want to ultimately approach your marketing. Can you see value that is being provided.

6) MARKETING POSITIONING: Do they teach the type of marketing that you embrace. Are the company leaders/top producers “buying leads” or does the company have an extensive marketing curriculum being taught by the current Internet Mastermind Marketers. Or, is the education coming strictly from one source. One individual.

7) COMPREHENSIVE GLOBAL/INTERNATIONAL CURRICULUM: If you are on the internet you have the potential to market globally. What you want to ask yourself, is if the curriculum is translated into languages worldwide where the opportunity to be an Internet Marketer is being provided to people throughout the world, no matter the language.

You want to look for a curriculum that is providing a new skill set to anyone, anywhere in the world, and educates everyone how to market online – whether that person has a product or business already, or not. A company’s curriculum that embraces this philosophy is inline with providing true value to others.

8) LONGEVITY: How long does this company/curriculum plan on being around. Are they here to stay. The internet arena is constantly evolving and changing, and it’s nice to feel comfortable that who you are working with has a mission/game plan to be here for 5+ years.

9) CLICK-BY-CLICK TRAINING FOR THE NEWBIES: I have to admit, this approach to training really helped me. Does the curriculum provide “click-by-click” training. Can you can see “click-by-click” how things online are actually set up. This really helps to cut down the learning curve. It is too time intensive to learn from a book.

And, does the curriculum include “in the office of a top producer” training, so you see “how” the leaders are getting the results, now.

10)STAYING CURRENT WITH THE EVER EVOLVING CHANGES: You want a curriculum that is staying on top of the evolving changes by bringing onto the staff the marketing masterminds to keep the students current (i.e. SEO, Google).

Conclusion: We are in an internet evolution with changes and growth occurring very quickly, so you need to get out of the books, and onto the computer screen. You want to find the leaders, the top producers, the internet marketing masterminds in the internet marketing industry. So, pick wisely based on your goals and marketing style you are comfortable with.

What is email marketing?

Basically, in plain English, email marketing is a targeted mass mailing done via email. The purpose of email marketing could be advertising in order to recruit new clients, introducing a new set of products or services to an existing client base, keeping your clients informed by means of a newsletter, etc. All of the before mentioned activities are very legitimate business efforts, as long as you respect some unwritten rules and as long as the list of emails you use is what is called ‘targeted’, in other words the names came from a database generated by your marketing division and represents your existing client base, a carefully selected list of potential prospects or a list of people who opted in to receive your messages.

If instead of the above you use a list that you bought (you know, “25 million guaranteed AOL email addresses for only 19.95 – plus shipping”), or are doing it without warning the people on your list, or using other shady methods, then you are considered a spammer and what you are sending is spam, bulk mail, unsolicited email, basically, the main enemy of all things virtue and life in general. Yes folks, it is that easy to be labeled as a spammer, and very hard to get out of it.
Once your message is considered unsolicited, you will immediately be put on zillions of black lists, side by side with those who promise inches and inches of extra extremities and hours and hours of ecstatic pleasures (for only 3 easy payments and some handling fees).

Sound pretty risky, so why bother?

Obviously, opt-in email advertising is far more cost effective than direct marketing via regular mail, door-to-door sales, or telemarketing. Paper, printing, envelopes, and postage can add up quickly. Door to door sales require paying out commissions. Telemarketing results in high long distance bills, often without great results, as people become more and more blood thirsty toward the people on the other end of the so called cold call.

So why not just use my personal email or my company’s mail server and some mailing software?

In the early days of email marketing. They would gather all their emails into some primitive version of a spreadsheet, fire up some mail merging program, hook it up to their corporate mail system and voila, thousands of emails were flying away.

Today, the scenario is certainly possible, but let me tell you in a simple set of scenarios what can happen:

One of the many not-for-profit groups that decided to police the internet will intercept that a large number of emails were generated and sent by a server near you (yep, they can do that). In order to protect the civilized world from those who spread spam, viruses and other vermin, they will put you on a list of threats to humanity. Those other nice corporate folks who were your indented recipients, have an IT department that gets constantly yelled at by angry users who get emails with naked people. Well – Mel, their IT guy decides to put up an anti-spam system that links to that not-for-profit’s database of known spammers (oh yeah, did I mention you are now a ‘known spammer’?) and block your emails. Your emails might actually be blocked so well that your company will have a real trouble communicating via email and your IT folks will all go nuts and/or get fired.

Basically, not so good. Other things that can happen are: you’ll have to build some opt-in / opt-out system, in some states there are laws that require that you make it very easy for your audience to unsubscribe, you’ll have a hard time formatting your emails in a decent, eye pleasing way, etc.

Lastly, the process of sending thousands of emails and managing lists, subscribing and unsubscribing people is tedious and just plain annoying. The only way to do it is with a maximum degree of automation, or, the better solution – to outsource to a company that does it professionally.

Folks, I am known for promoting the “do it in house” concept, and am not that big on outsourcing. But when it comes to mass mailing… I say stay away from it and let the professionals do what they do.

If you are worried about cost, know that the fee you pay for email marketing services, will still cost less than the continued overhead and expenses of the traditional options, not to mention the great possibilities of reaching a much larger audience, much faster (practically instantly).

What to look for in an email marketing company?

1. Automating Your Subscribe and Unsubscribe Requests

Many email marketing companies will provide you with exact HTML code you need to paste to your site to have a subscription form on your web site. The better services also provide a link at the bottom of each email that enables subscribers to update their information or unsubscribe from a list, automating everything for you.

2. Personalization of Emails

Another powerful feature of many email marketing services is the ability to use mail merge capabilities to personalize each email that you send. The better services allow to have custom fields, additional to the standard first name and last name.

3. Bounceback email handling

Bouncebacks are emails that are sent to email accounts that no longer exist or are full, blocked, etc. Essentially, you’ll get a response stating that your message did not make it. All email list management software programs are able to manage subscribe and unsubscribe requests and send out messages, however without integrated bounceback email handling all the non-deliverable emails will be sent back to you, a rather big nuisance if your list is large. Ideally, the email software you use will be able to manage your bouncebacks for you. Whenever a bounceback is received, the software makes a note of the address and if another bounceback is received the email address will be sent to a list of dead addresses.

This remove capability is extremely important since if you continuously send out emails with many bouncebacks you may be blacklisted as a spammer. This is something you really want to avoid at all cost.

4. HTML email

The ability to send out HTML emails has been around for quite some time. Most email marketing companies support the ability to send out messages that include graphics and formatted text. This is surely something you’ll want to look for.

However, not all of your users have the ability to view email messages in HTML format. This percentage is usually between 10-20%. Instead of seeing your aesthetically pleasing email they might see a string of meaningless code. Using most email list management programs, these 10-20% of users will open up emails from you and be very inclined to call you a spammer.

To avoid this, look for companies that use multi-part MIME to send out messages. When you send an HTML email in multi-part MIME, users who do not have the ability to view HTML messages will receive the email in the usual text format.

Every day hundreds of millions of people use search engines to browse the Internet. Search engines direct searchers to specific websites based on strategic keywords or phrases. With so many people using the Internet it is not hard to see why Internet marketing is so important. Effective Internet marketing is what drives websites to the top of major search engines like Google, Yahoo, and MSN.


Internet marketing is associated with several business models. The model is typically defined by the goal. These include e-commerce, where goods are sold directly to consumers or businesses; publishing, or the sale of advertising; and lead-based sites, where an organization generates value by getting sales leads from their site.


There are many other models based on the specific needs of each person or business that launches an internet marketing campaign. Internet marketing is relatively inexpensive. Companies can reach a wide audience for a small fraction of traditional advertising budgets.


It’s not because they aren’t good businesses. It’s simply because they aren’t educated in Internet Marketing which is a must if you plan to have or currently have a website.


Marketing on the internet is not as easy as it sounds. Statistics show that 80 percent of the income is being made by 20 percent of the marketers. The increasing popularity of the internet has made it the best marketing medium today. Through it, you can reach the global market and increase your sales potential without spending too much on your advertising cost.


Everyone seems to be jumping on the Internet marketing and pay-per-click bandwagon. Many businesses are dabbling with programs like Google Adword campaigns in an attempt to bring traffic to their website.


If your business involves products or services spread across the globe or even within a region, internet marketing can be effective in showcasing your product/service to the discerning buyer. The first step towards a successful internet marketing campaign would be building a suitable web-site. This will induce the visitor to look at your site and when the number of articles is large, the number of visits to your web site will also rise in proportion. Article marketing is yet another tool to lead you to success in internet marketing.


You could say internet marketing is like a good (gasp) conversation. A good conversation is between two willing participants.


Conversation Marketing ensures that you know your audience, target them with an appropriate message, and then observe their response and adjust that message accordingly. It can do this because of the two-way nature of the internet. Typical internet marketing revolves around a drive to get more traffic, no matter what. Viral marketing, search marketing, e-mail marketing (not spam), spam, banner ads, pay-per-click marketing a name, the method, and 98 percent of marketers use them as blunt instruments in a get-all-the-traffic-and-let-God-sort-it-out kind of way. Accumulation marketing is not based on selection of potential customers. It’s relatively indiscriminate, leaving businesses and consumers frustrated.


Each of these subject areas is important to consider prior to planning your internet marketing strategy. There are many advantages to having a fully executable internet marketing strategy. These benefits include measurability, flexibility, and affordability. Sites like Google offer pay-per-click advertising for anyone interested in getting their message in front of the right segment or prospective buyer. This method is highly targeted and offers one of the best and most popular forms of internet marketing.


Factually, Internet Marketing doesn’t always mean to the website. The scope of the Internet marketing is beyond the website building or operating through the website. Internet marketing, some times referred to as the e-marketing or the online marketing, is the marketing strategy for the services or the products applied through the use of Internet.


Due to the low-cost and the global nature of the Internet, the Internet Marketing concept is gaining some rapid popularity. The other cause of the popularity of this concept is the interactive nature of the Internet. Internet marketing is a procedure of mounting and promoting a group using the online medium.

For most internet marketing gurus, the use of internet marketing and social networking sites has been their secret weapons. If you are a business owner, you would quite agree with me that, it is always necessary to enhance your business. You can achieve this by using some major and very popular social networking platform. While most people resort to the internet, in a bid to get the information they seek; millions have joined social networks; and are still doing so. It is therefore beyond reasonable doubt, that the majority of people will become members of social networks at one point in time; for the purpose of processing information. Can you use social networking as a tool to improve the success of your internet marketing?

Internet marketing and social networking sites has really help most successful marketers. Like I said earlier, most marketers are following this new trend. Social marketing is now employed by virtually every marketer who wishes expand his/her business and profit too. Having a good brand (name) is very important. You would want to your customers to know not only what they are buying. And it is only important they know who they are buying from too.

I have compiled 4 essential tips to help you succeed at internet marketing; using the method of social networking.

Communications: This is a very important key to success to what ever internet marketing strategy you opt to use. Your real-time customers can only get to know better when there is an open flow of communication between both parties. The same goes for potential customers. Be bold and step out into the open. Do your best to join more popular networks; start contacting people who would be interested in your business. This signifies business mutualism: They help your business grow; and return the favor.

Quality Content: content is very necessary in internet marketing. Always make sure that whatever you are selling contains quality content that will be savored by your clients. Thanks to new technological innovations and development; you can now attract people to your business with such magnetic force. Unsurprisingly, you can achieve this goal with just a little effort. Yes, while I do not encourage laziness, you want to couple your efforts with smartness and intelligence.

Help People: You also want to be the Good Samaritan of old if you are to succeed internet marketing. What do I mean by this? If you are really making money online; or you have an offline business that does as much good, passing on the information to people wont do any harm. So when you help them, they get to trust you. It increases your online credibility and customers would be willing to work with you. They also see you as a nice person and will not hesitate to believe whatever information you pass unto them.

Spread The Right Links: This is where most people go wrong in internet marketing. Dont even think of distributing the links to your social network. This is jet-age; and most people are already members of one social network or another. Talking about links, I mean, you must always include the links to your blog or website on your profile. Do not impose it upon them to click on your links. They will clearly see it in your profile and the decision to click on the links is solely theirs.

January 28, 2009 — Tips for getting your permission-based marketing emails into the inbox and the actual design of the email are closely linked. Here you will find useful information on getting into the inbox, email design tips, and the nexus between the two.

If you are just getting back into email marketing after a break, are new to it, or are sending to an old list, make sure to ramp up your sending. This does not take long. If you have a large list, do not send to your whole list all at once but ramp up incrementally to maximize email marketing deliverability.

It is very important to keep a clean list. Too many hard bounces (email addresses that do not exist any more) can hurt your reputation with the ISPs. Pay close attention to keeping a clean list and purge as many bad addresses off the list as you can before you even send through a new Email Service Provider (ESP). You want to get off on the right foot with good delivery.

Keep in mind that the worst thing you can do to build your email list is to harvest emails off of Web sites, as this a flagrant violation of the CAN-SPAM act.

In addition, do not buy a list from some guy on the Internet who promises you the subscribers have all opted-in. They may have opted-in to hear from someone, but not from you. For you, they are likely to hit the spam complaint button along with the many others to whom this guy has sold the list. Sending to this sort of list will hurt your ability to reach your best customers or prospects.

No matter which ESP you choose, they will assign you an IP address – either shared or private. This IP address, not your email address, is the “Caller ID” of every email that goes out, whether a personal message or email marketing. Make sure you setup a Sender Policy Framework (SPF) record that matches the IP your ESP assigned you with the sending domain (yourcompany.com). If you do this, you will be in the elite of email marketers who are following this optimal practice and will have an advantage. If you need help, ask your ESP. If you are a techie or know one, setting up an SPF record in your Domain Name Service (DNS) records does not take long. With many ESPs, you can determine the IP (shared or private) by looking in the settings of the account; with some ESPs you may have to ask them what IP address your emails are coming from.

Here are some additional tips on getting your emails through the spam filters.

Email Marketing Design: The Coin of The Realm

Good email design is not only more appealing to recipients and better for click throughs, but it also makes the spam filters look more kindly on your emails. This matters greatly when it comes to reaching the inbox, but do not forget that people like well designed emails better than something that is hard on the eyes. Your success with achieving your email marketing goals — including click-through-rates (CTR) and conversions — will be greatly enhanced by aesthetically pleasing email design.

One of the top guidelines for email marketing design is not to send out an email that is too heavy graphics or, much worse, one giant graphic. The guiding principle is 60 percent text, 40 percent graphic. Many email recipients view emails in a preview pane, so the top left corner is an ideal location for brand placement and a good enticing lead. Also, keep in mind that many email clients have graphics turned off by default so you have to entice people to click the button that turns graphics back on. The best way to do that is to leverage strong content, a well-designed email, and a good balance between text and graphics. It is always a very bad idea to send out an email that is one large graphic because not only will it lessen the chances that people will read it, but also because spam filters hate one large graphic emails.

It is crucial to remember to include ALT text for any images you include in your emails. The reason is that anything you are trying to communicate through images will be lost until many users turn on the graphics, which usually can be accomplished with a quick click. Entice them with descriptive ALT text that describes the graphic. If a picture is worth a thousand words, then give your recipients a reason to view those images.

Tables are back – which may seem counterintuitive to those of you who have been involved in a Web design project. Tables are an important element of email marketing design.  You can use CSS but it must be inline CSS if you want it to work. Consider tables in your email design and play close attention to using table attributes.

Be aware of the inherent limitations of email programs as compared to Web browsers. Consider that the optimal email width is recommended at 600 pixels wide to accommodate for various browsers and mobile devices. Try to hit this range to avoid wide and unwieldy emails that few will want to read through. You probably want to avoid very long emails as well.

Again, keep in mind that while Web browsers are developed to handle javascript, flash, etc., many emails programs simply cannot handle the fancy stuff.

In addition, make sure to have a link in your email that enables your recipients to view the email as a Web page. Most ESPs provide a very easy way to accomplish this task. Some people will just prefer to view your email as a Web page.

If you combine good design for email with an awareness of both the spam filters and an aesthetically pleasing email for your audience, then you have a recipe for success. Email marketing can be hard work but when done well it yields the highest ROI of any other marketing tactic, which, according to the Direct Marketing Association is nearly for every dollar invested.
