Nearly all internet marketers know about the existence of pay per click (PPC) advertising, though not all of them have really tried it. In fact, those people who have tried PPC advertising are separated between two different approaches to this idea.

The first group of people likes the concept of advertising their site through pay per click advertising program and dive straight in. They do this without even doing any actual research. Needless to say, they usually end with terrible results. These people have wasted huge amounts of money on a good advertising model because they don’t have enough understanding about it.

Oppositely, the second group of people takes a rather slower approach to pay per click and cautiously do keyword research first. They try to grasp how PPC works and do a test run before expanding to a bigger project. Although, these people lack a little confidence to try that first test run on PPC.

And in the middle of these two extreme groups of people sits a group that does just about right the whole PPC advertising process. This middle group is a lot smaller than the other two though. They realize the many benefits that pay per click can do to their business if they just do the correct approach. They also know that once they understand the potential of this famous advertising method, it’s not difficult to figure out why.

If you do the correct approach to pay per click, the customers will go searching for you, instead of you going out and searching for them. Also, the customers that see your ad are those that are specifically interested in what you have to offer. Here’s more, you only pay for the ad when someone actually clicks on it.

It sure does sound great! But it’s not that simple. Because of the many positive things about pay per click, a whole lot of people have jumped into the bandwagon, which results in the tremendous competition to be on the top ad placements. The question now is how can you make out a sensible income from pay per click advertising.

Well, for one, choose the right thing to advertise. You should do some marketing research first to find out if your product or service is in demand and if people will be interested to pay for it. PPC advertising costs money, therefore you don’t want to pay the advertising company to market something that will not bring you returns. Your keyword should also be always customer oriented. And to determine the best keywords, you could use a keyword popularity tool. It also goes without saying that you need to write a good ad. Besides making your ad attention grabbing, don’t forget to mention the price so you won’t lose money for a click, when the customer decides your product costs too much.

PPC is also one of the most cost-effective ways of targeting traffic to your internet business.

Let us take a quick look at how PPC Advertising works.

 

The PPC engines create listings and rate them based on a bid amount the website owner is willing to pay for each click from that search engine. Advertisers bid against each other to receive higher ranking for a specific keyword or phrase.

The highest bidder for a certain keyword or phrase will then have the site ranked as number 1 in the PPC Search Engines followed by the second and third highest bidder, down to the last bidder that has placed a bid on the same keyword or phrase.

Your ads then will appear prominently on the search results pages based on the ranking you have bidded for.

 

How do you make money by using PPC into your affiliate marketing business?

Most affiliate programs only pay when a sale is made or a lead delivered after a visitor has clicked through your site. Your earnings will not always be guaranteed as the quality of the sales mechanism on the sales site may not be adequate or the traffic generated may be simply browsing rather than buying.

To counteract this, make sure that the products you promote have a buyer demand, the sales pages of the merchants are well presented and the sales copy is of good quality, and more importantly make sure that the keywords you have bid on are ‘buyer’ keywords as opposed to ‘browser’ keywords.

Browser keywords are those like: about, information, features, etc.

Buyer keywords include: buy, for sale, review, price, etc.

One of the great benefits of PPC Advertising is that when a visitor clicks on an advert they are aware that they are going to a sales page, so ‘conversion’ (a sale) should be easier to obtain.

Another benefit is that your site becomes a resource to that user and they may return to search for related products at a later date.

 

What will happen when you integrate PPC into your affiliate program?

PPC vendors usually have ready-to-use affiliate tools that can be easily integrated into your website. The most common tools are search boxes, banners, text links and some 404-error pages. Most search engines utilize custom solutions and can provide you with a white-label affiliate program. This enables you, using only a few lines of code, to integrate remotely-hosted co-branded search engine into your website.

 

In conclusion, PPC Advertising is an excellent way to promote your online business. However, it is not free and can cost a lot of money if you have not targeted the correct buying keywords.

I believe that PPC Advertising should be used by affiliates who have already begun making a profit online and should be paid for with that profit. The amount spent should be closely regulated and if an add fails to convert it should be removed.

5. Pay Per Click ad. You can’t satisfy everyone with only one PPC advert. Get to know your consumer’s market and find out what exactly they are looking for. With this information, write multiple ads that will cater to different personalities, rather than just making one PPC advert. Be imaginative with your adverts by checking out insulting ads, polite ads, informative ads, and catchy adverts. Launch as many as you can and Google will inevitably publish the most popular. This makes certain that at least one of your ads has a broader audience.
