Google Adwords is a useful way to generate traffic in the arena of “pay per click” or ppc advertising. PPC advertising are the sponsored listings that appear at the top and on the right side of the page when you enter a keyword phrase search on google.com.

Advertisers can create many campaigns or advertising blocks by bidding on keywords.  The advertisements will appear in different positions on the page in these sponsored locations.
High conversion PPC campaigns rely on keyword research that effectively target  keywords optimal for the niche market. The key words should not only be highly relevant but also speak directly to the customer.

Google employs a proprietary system named the Quality Score to determine the degree to which the key words match the page to which you are directing traffic. The overall campaign performance affects the quality score so a higher “click through rate” or CTR would reduce your cost per click. This necessitates using highly relevant, targeted keywords in your PPC advertising, and your landing page should match your chosen keywords closely.

Factors which affect the Quality Score include: CTR for the keyword and the ad, overall CTR of your account, CTR of your display URL, quality of your landing page, keyword relevance to the landing page, and relevance of the keywords in the advertisement.

It will be necessary to assign specific keywords to each ad block when you create your advertisement in your PPC administrative panel.  You might start with fewer than 10 keywords and then incrementally increase the keywords until you detect progress in your PPC marketing campaign.

This gradual adjustment in the keywords will help you to monitor the results in a manageable way to determine which keywords perform optimally, and which keywords you should be removed.
Keywords should be tightly grouped and multiple landing pages might be employed as needed in split testing. Testing and tracking the results on an ongoing, consistent basis will help to improve your CTR and conversions.
