Email marketing can actually be much more effective than most people think. Many business owners do not invest a great deal of time, energy or money into orchestrating an email marketing campaign because they mistakenly believe all email marketing is viewed as spam. However, this is simply not true. Business owners who have discovered how to market via email successfully, enjoy a great deal of success with this type of marketing. This article will discuss how email marketing can be successful and will provide insight into how to determine how your email marketing is being received.

Before we can discuss how to determine the reaction to your email marketing campaign, it is important for business owners to understand how to plan and execute an email marketing campaign which is successful. Perhaps one of the most important elements of type of campaign is to ensure your marketing efforts are not viewed by the recipients as being spam. One way to do this is to carefully develop your email distribution list. Although you can reach a tremendous audience by sending out your email marketing materials to a large email list, this is not effective when you do not know much about whether or not the members of this email list will even be interested in your products or services. It is important to note that reaching a huge audience is not more important than reaching a highly targeted audience.

Focusing your email marketing efforts on millions of recipients who do not have a specific interest in your products or services is not nearly as effective focusing your email marketing efforts on only hundreds of email recipients who are likely to be very interested in your products or services. This is because you are much more likely to generate sales from a small, target group than you are from a large group without a specific focus.

Now that you know a little bit about email marketing and how it can be effective, you might wonder how you can determine just how effective your email marketing efforts are in the long run. This is important because it is not worthwhile to invest a great deal of time, energy and money into an email marketing campaign if your efforts are not generating results. Likewise, if your email marketing campaign is widely successful, you might want to consider organizing additional marketing efforts to further your success. We reccomend www.Automatic-Responder.com if you do not already have an autoresponder service.

Customer surveys are one of the easiest ways to evaluate the reaction to your email marketing campaign. Asking customer to fill out simple surveys when they make a purchase can provide a great deal of insight depending on the questions you ask. Questions such as where the customer learned about your products and services may seem rather innocuous but this information can actually be rather useful to the business owner. Learning where a customer learned about the products and services you offer, provides excellent feedback for which of your marketing efforts are generating the most interest. If you receive a great deal of responses stating customers learned about your products or services through emails, this is a good indication that your email marketing campaign is effective.

Another very popular way to evaluate the reaction to your email marketing efforts is to closely monitor your rate of sales as well as your website traffic immediately after you issue a new email to members of your distribution list. This can be helpful because an increase in sales or website traffic after an email was issued is a strong indication that the email was well received and encouraged recipients to visit the website and make purchases. However, there is one caveat to this method of evaluation. It can be quite difficult to determine whether or not the emails caused the increase in website traffic and sales if more than one marketing effort was made at the same time. For example if you issue an email at the same time as you launch a banner ad, you cannot determine which one is more effective and is driving the increase in sales and traffic.

Article Source: http://www.articlesbase.com/ – Targeted Email Marketing Features for Business

Are you thinking of investing in small business email marketing? Before you commit to a specific email marketing company, you should assemble a list of the features you desire. Read on for some popular targeted email marketing features to consider.

1. Email Templates

In order to hold a reader’s attention, your messages have to be visually compelling, featuring images of your products and services. These messages are also valuable branding opportunities, and should be enhanced to include your company colors and logo whenever possible.

Some email marketing services allow users to customize their own templates, while others handle the process on their end. Depending on the company you choose, you might even be able to request a custom design.

No matter where your design comes from, make sure that your email marketing company checks its templates in multiple browsers and email clients so that your messages will always appear as intended.

2. Social Networking

Who doesn’t like killing two birds with one stone? At many email marketing services, targeted email marketing and social networking go hand in hand. For example, certain services allow you to automatically tweet a copy of every email newsletter you send out.

Additionally, email messages can be modified to include social sharing buttons, encouraging users to share your newsletters on Facebook, Twitter, and other services. This can help spread the word about your business on a variety of platforms, all from a single email!

3. Contact List Management

For effective small business email marketing, you have to make sure that your messages are reaching the right people. Ideally, you want a large distribution list, consisting solely of readers who are interested in your products or services.

To this end, most email marketing services include contact list management capabilities. This could involve API integration, so that you can add a sign up form on your webpage or blog to increase your subscriber count.

A good marketing company will also monitor bounces and unsubscribes to make sure your contact list includes only the proper audience.

4. Statistical Reporting

Email campaigns are extremely easy to track, and any good email marketing service will send you relevant statistics on a regular basis. Your statistics should tell you how many people are reading and forwarding your messages, in addition to how many clicks the various links in your newsletters are receiving. If your email marketing campaign involves social networking, you should be able to see statistics on social media shares as well.

Some email marketing services feature email comparisons, so you can see how your newsletters are doing when stacked against similar campaigns.

Depending on your budget and business goals, your targeted email marketing campaign may not require all of these features. Still, it’s important to explore your options, consider your needs, and know which features to demand from a potential marketing company.

Beyond the Inbox: Managing the Data from Email Marketing Campaigns

Email Marketing has become a widely used marketing objective due to its effectiveness and relatively low cost, but many companies aren’t getting the most out of their email campaigns. The reporting and statistics available with email marketing can provide crucial data to not only improve future email campaigns, but also to serve as a foundation for developing a comprehensive online identity. This whitepaper will discuss the importance of analyzing the data from email marketing campaigns and incorporating best practices from those campaigns in other aspects of online advertising.

Discover the Data

Any email marketing program will supply basic data about a campaign’s performance. Deliverability rates, opens, and click-throughs are nothing new to the seasoned marketer, but many marketers fail to perform a thorough analysis to properly understand all of the numbers. Without an in-depth look at the reporting for email campaigns, the valuable information email marketing provides isn’t harnessed for all that it’s worth.

In addition to the basic statistics provided by their email marketing software, marketers need to break out the Excel charts and create multiple formulas to track all the data from every campaign over an extended period of time to get a better look at how your email marketing campaigns are performing. With some simple formulas you can not only know an individual email open rate, but how that open rate compares to your average email open rate. By calculating and tracking the average deliverability, open, and click-through rates for email campaigns you can have a better understanding of which emails deviate from the norm—whether they perform better or worse than your average email.

Not Your Average Email

Once you’ve calculated the average statistics over time and pinpointed emails that standout in deliverability, opens, and clicks, it’s time to closely inspect those outliers. What is it about those emails that made them perform well (or not so well)? Go back and inspect the subject lines of better performing emails. Are there trends in the keywords, phrasing, or length of the subject lines? Close inspection of these trends will tell you what is leading to a higher or lower open rate. Next, check out the individual clicks in outlier emails. Did more people click on images or text? What images or text worked better? Did people react better to an email blast with strong call-to-actions, or a newsletter with informative editorial? Keep track of these trends in the keywords, images, and text that make

those outliers stand out to incorporate these best practices in future campaigns. It may seem like common sense (and it is), but not enough marketers take time to properly scrutinize their email campaigns.

Beyond the Inbox

Once you’ve compiled a dataset of the best and worst keywords and images from your email marketing campaigns, adopt those practices into other areas of your online identity. The data is there—why not use it?

Social Networking

Social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook are quickly gaining popularity as marketing tools, but just what should you “tweet” about? Email marketing reports can supply you with an arsenal of content to spread throughout your social media channels. In addition to replicating your email blasts and newsletters in your Tweets and newsfeed, take your email reports into account to specially craft your messages to include the keywords that perform best in email campaigns. If a certain phrase in a subject line gave you a higher open rate, Tweet about that phrase! Including the right buzzwords in your social media messages can gain not only more followers, but form a stronger relationship with the followers you already have.

Search Engine Optimization & Search Engine Marketing

Just as those buzzwords from our email campaigns can help you gain more followers in social networking sites, they can also help increase your website traffic through search engines. Whether using organic search engine optimization or paid search engine marketing, picking the right keywords to include in your website copy and advertisement banners is crucial to drive the right traffic. Knowing which keywords received the most clicks in your email will tell you which words will be best relatable to your company and service offerings for a web search.

Blogging, Podcasts, Video Blogs & Press Releases

If a certain topic of your business is receiving high-traffic results in your email campaigns, give the people what they want! Create an expanded explanation of a particularly popular phrase in a corporate blog, podcast or video blog. This ongoing dialogue will help strengthen the relationship with your current customer

base and can help draw in some prospects as well. A properly run blog can also increase search engine optimization to help boost organic searches, too. In addition to using a blog, crafting press releases and distributing them to industry publications and websites can dramatically increase your overall exposure. The more popular the topic (hint: the ones that receive the most clicks in your emails!), the more likely your press release or article will be published.

A Unified Identity

By constantly evaluating the reporting from your email campaigns you can develop a unified online identity across every virtual channel. But this analysis isn’t a one-way street—by utilizing multiple forms of online marketing and scrutinizing the reporting from each, you can have the data and knowledge necessary to strengthen every other channel. What works best in an email campaign can help your social networking and what performs well in search engine marketing can boost an email campaign. Developing a powerful online identity requires an in-depth and cyclical approach to increase the effectiveness of each distinct online medium.

The Importance Of Internet Email Marketing

Email marketing is a potent and critical marketing tool that can effectively promote your website, help you generate more income, and ensure your Internet marketing success. A direct type of marketing through emails, Internet email marketing can do many things with spending much time and money. Email marketing is an economical way to advertise or promote a product, increase customers, ensure customer satisfaction, and improve product or brand appeal. In fact, most small online businesses consider email marketing as the number one promotion method to get more site visitors and customers. According to a survey, email marketing is rated by online businesses as one of the most important Internet marketing technologies in terms of promoting products and brands.

Email is very important in online marketing because it provides numerous advantages. Internet email marketing creates a win-win situation for Internet marketers and their target customers. Email marketing works by creating an incentive scheme for prospective customers who sign up to receive Internet marketing emails. Primarily, you send your prospects the links to your advertisements through emails. You get more traffic when more people click on your links in the emails that you sent. To make people click on the links, they are given points for every click. And when they reach a certain number of points, they get rewards. This advantage enables you to establish strong relations with your prospective customers.

Unlike other Internet marketing avenues, email marketing allows a proactive communication between the marketer and the target audience rather than the former passively waiting for visitors to make purchases on the website.

With email marketing, you do not have to spend for materials, production, and postage costs. One can get that huge benefit from free email. Compared to direct email, email marketing is 20 times more cost effective.

Another importance and advantage of Internet email marketing over other marketing channels is its ability to generate an immediate response by creating call to action techniques. These techniques make the target audience click on a link that leads them to your website or the sales page of your product. In addition, it is quite easy to make and distribute email promotions, newsletters, and announcements in a matter of hours using self-service tools available on the Internet. Communication between you and your customers is made fast and convenient without the need for tedious production process. As opposed to a mailed advertisement, email marketing can deliver ads in just a few seconds.

Email marketing is especially important to small and medium online enterprises because it provides list segmentation, professional HTML templates, and instant tracking and reporting. This marketing channel makes it easy for online marketers to deliver their message to consumers.

When it comes to measuring return on investments (ROI), email marketing can do the job easily and effectively. ROI measures the number of people who viewed your deals or newsletters sent via email, as well as how many readers clicked on the links in the email.
In a nutshell, Internet email marketing proves to be one important tool in ensuring online business success. If you are interested in using email marketing in promoting your website or product, you can take advantage of various email marketing software, tool, and other resources available on the Web that can help you get started.

Evolution of Email -the Beginning of Email Marketing

Email may be a daily part of your life, but it hasn’t always been around. Although, it has actually been around longer than the Internet has and even longer than ARPANet. Its evolution was simple and based on the changes in technology. The early uses of email were basically like leaving a note on someone’s desk, except that note was left in a directory so email marketing wasn’t actually an option. A user simply left a note in another user’s directory so that when they logged in they would see it. It wasn’t like the inboxes we have today specifically for sending and receiving email, however it accomplished its goal.

The first true email system was called MAILBOX and it was used at MIT as early as 1965. That is a very long time ago compared to when people think email was introduced. This program worked well and another program that sent emails was called SNDMSG, basically meaning “send message”.

The mainframe computers that used these types of programs had as many as 100 users on them. Many time people used a “dumb terminal” to connect to the mainframe. The dumb terminals did not have any memory or actual storage; they simply allowed people to connect to the mainframe. As a result, work was actually conducted on the remote mainframe.

This was before internetworking so email was only possible for people that used the same computer. As a result, there was no need for an actual email address or sending an email. It was more like placing an email on a mainframe so that others could see it, which meant that if email marketing was used at all it certainly didn’t reach many people. Then, when computers began to be able to communicate to other computers via networks email became much more complicated and the idea of email marketing would eventually evolve from this. However, now that computers could take sending an email meant that people would need addresses to send the emails across networks and have them arrive to the correct person.

Today, email marketing is based on having thousands of email addresses to send information quickly and affordably. However, in the early days of email the issue of addressing emails and sending them across networks was in the early stages so email marketing would still be a long way out as a way to contact lots of people in just a few strokes of the keyboard. Then, in 1972 Ray Tomlinson played a huge role in creating the way email is sent and received and is the one who chose the @ sign to denote a particular destination for an email. This alone opened up email so that it could be sent and received across networks and is the root of email marketing.

Is Email Marketing Effective

Are you new to marketing?  Have you signed up with the big email lists like VirualUrl or ListJoe?  If you have, you probably receive at least 30 emails a day advertising some “great” or “amazing” opportunity.  Most likely, you will never open most of them and just hit delete.  With that being said, many marketing newbies may wonder, does email marketing actually work?  The answer to that question is yes, if done the right way and businesses are setting quite a trend!   In fact, in a survey done by Jupiter Research in 2008, email marketing was expected to grow from .2 billion in 2007 to .1 billion by 2012.  Another quick statistic for your reading pleasure is that every dollar spent on email marketing, brought in a rate of return of .06.

So does this mean you should go out there and spend 7 with VirualUrl or List Joe and start emailing right away?  Not so fast…your rate of return will not be what I quoted above.  When you rent a list, like List Joe, you have no relationship with your reader, and therefore, your reader will not be compelled to open your email.  I am sure that with a catchy subject heading and some compelling ad copy, you will make some sales, but not like you would if your reader requested to be on your list.

Ideally, you need to build your own list.  These are subscribers who feel you have something of value to give to them and have agreed to give you their contact information.  Even some of these people will delete your email, but not at the rate you would see if you randomly sent out emails.

Network Marketing or any type of sales is all about building a relationship.  In an age where people are marketing on the Internet, relationship tends to get lost.  We are all still human, and desire and crave that personal interaction.  When a business owner can effectively connect with their customers, they are able sell more products and keep the customer happy.

Email marketing can be extremely effective and is considered the most cost-efficient way to market products or services.  With that being said, here are a few ways to help your ROI:

1.                  Build your own list.  You can do this in a variety of ways.  We have all seen the little opt-in boxes in capture pages.  Use these in yours, and make it desirable for someone to give their information.  People are extremely cautious about giving out their email address because they do not want 100 spam emails tomorrow.  Building a list takes time, but if done right, those addresses will be like gold, and should be treated that way.

2.                  Customize your greetings.  Pre-packaged systematic email confirmations are a big turn off.  This is the first impression your reader will have when opening your email.  You will want to make it personal and memorable, so they will open up future emails from you.

3.                  Content is king.  Your email content must be excellent.  You have a lot of competition, so don’t get lazy with your messages.  You may want to use your emails like a newsletter.  Many businesses use this strategy, so that over time, when the timing is right, the reader will buy.  Most likely, your reader will not buy from you on the first email you send.

4.                  Earn your readers trust.  There is nothing worse than subscribing to someone’s newsletter, only to be bombarded with a bunch of offers.  If you are promising a subscription for information, give that.  You can make suggestions about your product, with a link within your newsletter, but leave it at that.  Do not harass your reader in the next email you send.  In fact, if you make suggestions, but focus on good content, your reader will value your information, learn to trust your suggestions, and buy your offer.

5.                  Email sparingly.  Do not continuously email your subscribers.  Finding the right balance between keeping in contact with your subscribers is important.  Email too much and they will request to be taken off your list.  Email them too little and they will forget they subscribed to your list and label your email as spam.

Email marketing is a very popular way to advertise, and it is easy to see why.  With automated services which will send your emails out for you, your business can save a lot of time.  However, in order to be truly effective in sales, you must establish a relationship, so plan your emails accordingly.  Don’t rely on the system to take care of everything for you.  Be actively involved with your list.  If people leave your list, don’t just plug in new ones, find out why and adjust your mailings to attract your subscribers.  Your list will determine the success of your business.  Guard it, nurture it and treat it like your best friend.  If you do, you will find your subscribers will faithfully open your emails and look forward to hearing from you.

How to Make Your Email Marketing Strategy Work

According to recent research, an email marketing strategy based on voluntary sign ups will lead to high conversion rates. Email marketing has come a long way over the years, and it has become something more than just a failed strategy for spammers. Just as long as the emails are sent out to potential leads that have shown interest in them, they can bring in a lot of success.

If you’ve been thinking about giving an email marketing strategy a try, you need to make sure you do it correctly. You can’t just spam to thousands or even millions of emails-you can get into a lot of trouble for that these days. It wouldn’t do you any good anyway, since it will just go to the spam filters rather than inbox.

Thanks to the invention of spam filters, though, the email marketing strategy is easier on the rest of us. Have a form on your website or blog for visitors to fill out so that they can request more information about your service or product. Send out regular emails to keep them updated. Make sure you give them the opportunity to opt-out anytime they wish.

However, if you make the emails very appealing and interesting, you won’t have to worry about anyone ever wanting to opt-out! Additionally, they may also tell all their friends about your business as well. Wouldn’t it defeat the purpose of having an email marketing strategy if subscribers end up unsubscribing?

If you want your email marketing strategy to work, then there are a few things you need to know.

? Presentation. The formatting and graphics need to be visually appealing. Your email marketing strategy won’t work at all if you send your members sloppy, hard to read emails. Also keep in mind that a lot of email providers are blocking out graphics in messages. You should therefore give your readers an option to sign up for text or html versions of your emails.

? Content. Give your subscribers something interesting to read. Tell them something that you think they would want to know. Since they voluntarily signed up for your email list, they must already have some interest. Make the subject line very catchy as well.

? Discounts, coupons, and freebies. Everyone loves good deals and freebies. One of the most surefire ways to get an email marketing strategy to work is to offer subscribers special deals. It won’t hurt to offer your readers a little discount or freebie. Let them know that you’ll only be offering the special to them. Hopefully, they’ll enjoy the freebie or sample and will come back for more.

? Try to get to know your readers. Provide surveys for them to fill out and offer prizes upon completion. Encourage them to leave comments and to give feedback. You can still remain professional while getting to know your potential customers a little bit. An email marketing strategy shouldn’t always be “strictly business”.

You can win at the game of email marketing strategies by following these tips. You don’t have to remain in the dark forever when it comes to email marketing. Even if you’ve tried in the past and failed, try these tips and start over again. A good email marketing strategy will bring a lot of leads and even sales. This has been proven time and time again, and you can bring your business plenty of success by sending your subscribers well put together, informative, and fun emails!

The monthly unlimited billing accounts are for marketing strategies that depend upon bi-weekly, weekly or more frequent email sending. The better email marketing software companies give you lots of handy free tools. One is a web sign-up box, so that prospects can sign up for your newsletters online. Another is a list manager that allows you to segment your audiences in any way, shape, or form that suits your business needs. Email List for bulk email marketing. Success is in the list

Now, if you want a good list, you can probably place a website on search engines with an autoresponder and wait after the “cobwebs” clear and get a few emails to send your offers to. Or you can try placing your website in pay per click advertising and watch your “dearest” search engine gobble all the money and get about  a dozen emails. With all the effort, you’ll probably will not get anywhere. So, its time to play hard ball. Do you know anything about email marketing? I’m not talking about unsolicited email. I’m not talking about spamming the whole country with your offers. Absolutely not.
You want your own list, right? You want thousands of emails that you can send your offers to. You want to sell and you want to make money. Not just nickels and dimes -I mean real money fast. Well, bulk email marketing has never been better. Email marketing is high impact with “bankroll” results. Pay per click, search engine submission, classifieds, banners, and all that nonsense can take a back seat -permission-based bulk email marketing is the king! The secret is in the list.
Now, do you know there are actual lists that do get plenty of response. These companies gather curious consumers and sell the list.  So, where do I go to get a great bulk email list? Who do I trust? There are plenty of companies out there that promise you “pacman” buyers. Yep, buyers that gobble plenty of offers that fall in there inbox. First things first: Research is the key.

1.Research google.com. Look for an email list or email marketing services. Check out their website. Check if they have a contact address. See how long they have been in business.

2. If you can get a good recommendation from someone that has used a email list company or email marketing service -that’s perfect. Ask all the questions.  You can try yahoo answers. Ask a question, see who gives a good  recommendation for a good list. Never fall for that “spamming is illegal”. Those people don’t know the laws regarding email marketing. Most people misinterpret the whole email marketing concept.

3.If you can do your mailings yourself that’s good. If you feel nervous about doing it, hire an email marketing company. Remember, check them out and ask questions. Get their advice and get others advice.  Do your homework.

Follow the law. If you don’t know the law, research it and know it by heart. Most people don’t know what they are talking about when it comes down to email marketing. There is plenty of people that are ignorant.

So, if you want to make some serious money. Bulk email marketing is the way to go.

Email Marketing Lists: 3 Important Questions

Email marketing is comprised of two major parts: the email itself and the email marketing list (also known as the contact list). This list is the very core of every email marketing campaign, as well as the reason why you are email marketing at all. Without this list of people, all who should have given you permission to email them, you have no reason whatsoever to indulge in email marketing to promote your business, goods or services. Here are three questions most email marketers must ask when they’re just starting out:

Where can I get my email list?

Before I go into where you can get your list, it’s better to discuss where you shouldn’t get your list first. Buying, renting or scraping email addresses off the Internet are all terrible ideas. Why? Because those people haven’t given you permission to email them. The quickest way to lampoon your email marketing campaign is to obtain a list that includes wrong email addresses and people who haven’t given you permission. This results in spam complaints that will ultimately ruin your email marketing reputation.

There are many creative, effective ways to build an email list. Your first shot is putting a ListBuilder (also known as a sign-up box) on every single page of your Website. Site visitors can use this box to enter info and subscribe your email or newsletter. You can also build subscriptions by providing email address cards at your shop, tradeshows and other venues. If you are creative and ambitious about growing a permission-based email list, you can do these things and you’ll see your list grow.

What should I do with that list once I have it?

Your next step is to segment your list, if possible. Try and divide up the names and email addresses on that list by product likes and dislikes, geographical location and other data. By doing this, you’re dividing your list up and making it more targeted. Sending an email that canvasses everyone on your list may work, but you’ll most likely have better luck sending different emails that promote the products certain customers have already show they’re interested in.

How do I choose an email marketing service?

If you’re not sure where to start, go online and find which service you like best. The best email marketing services have sophisticated list management systems that not only let you segment your list and upload it to the system, but store your lists online and access them 24/7. The advantage of a Web-based email marketing suite is that you can pay a low monthly fee to use the service and you can access it anywhere in the world, as long as you have Internet access. The best email marketing services also include reporting suites that can tell, in real time, just how successful your email marketing campaigns are with recipients.

As an email marketer, remember that email marketing requires lots of patience, planning and creativity. However, if you build a great list and manage it accordingly, you’ll gain more sales and respect from your email or newsletter recipients.
