It is really frustrating, is it not, to log into your Google Adsense earnings and find that you’ve had yet another disappointing day. Another day of making nothing or just a fraction of a penny.

More so when you continue to read about those guys making five figure monthly incomes from Google Adsense every day. Google Adsense terms and conditions require that earnings are kept secret. Still some of these guys claim that they obtained special permission to spill the beans. One of them recently revealed that they had made $45,000 in just one month. Perusing through the statement, there were single days where they made as much as 800 bucks. Can you imagine that?

Sorry, it is not my intention to make you feel worse than you already are so I will stop there and get on with my findings.

This article is based on my investigative journalism skills. Yep, some of us are still using skills we acquired years ago from our offline days. My objective was to find out as much as I could about what these top earners were doing different from the rest of us.

First, What is Twitter Again?

We humans are funny things.  We want to be invisible offline really badly.  Yet we seek high visibility online while unwittingly cloaking ourselves like Harry Potter in a shroud of invisibility.

While scientists are getting close to figuring out real world invisibility tech, working their brilliant minds into pretzels over it, most website owners have already perfected the technology online.

I remember when I was first introduced to email. I was working in a big corporation at the time. I thought it was the neatest thing since sliced bread. I hit a button and the message is sent instantaneously. What could be better? Since then, my feelings towards email are somewhat modified. Google is currently one of the dominant entities on the net period. The question is - is it really that omnipotent, is it really that advantageous. The question is ? IS IT REALLY "ALL THAT".

To understand role of Google in the modern net society we need to go deep into its roots. Google was born at hands of Larry Page (rich boy) and perfected by Sergey Brin (russian rich boy) at Stanford University. The idea was to rank internet pages based on number of other pages linking back. For Brin it was sort of academic approach to web page ranking where web page would model for academic paper and back links it receives would model for number of citations that academic paper accounts for. Very interesting model indeed and in a sense is very useful in the academics; bus is this model as useful in the world of internet information ranking? Does this formula objectively represent the way any given website or webpage should be ranked among other competitors? Let me be the first one to disagree.

I know what you’re thinking, “Why is having your own product essential?” Quite simple really, without your own product you will never market to your full potential. We all want to make as much money as possible. That is the nature of business and because of this I have listed below my favourite and most powerful reasons why you need your own product to promote as opposed to be an affiliate for somebody else’s product.

Please read and understand these reasons because they make a whole lot of sense.

1. Affiliate Program - Without your own product it is possible to have your own affiliate program. Big deal, what’s so fancy about having your own affiliate program? I’m glad you asked because it is a BIG DEAL. When you sell online you are only one person and your results depend completely on you but when you have your own affiliate program other people do the work for you. They make you sales and your sales are muliplied expontially without any additional effort on your behalf. The best part is they only get paid when they have made a sale. Having an affiliate program is more than a good idea, I would go so far as to say, it’s essential. Can you tell I’m on a Twitter bender?  I can’t help it.  I blew it off for the most part this year because there were so many tools and so many people talking about it that I just got burnt out on it before I gave it a real chance.

So, this week is shaping up to be Twitter Week on FTR.  Here’s what I’ve been playing with today:

TweetDeck: I know all you Twitter experts are laughing your butts off, but I wasn’t lying when I said I was ignoring all the tools people were raving about in 2008.  This one is freakin’ awesome and, at least I finally saw the light and downloaded it. Having your DMs and @replies show up alongside your friends tweets is a MUST for effective and prompt communication and relationship building.
